Spot summary - Leucate, France
Freeride. Freestyle. Waveriding. The all-inclusive spot.
Situated on the Mediterranean coast in southern France close to the Spanish border, Leucate is a true paradise for kitesurfing as the strong and gusty Tramontana wind blows from Northwest most days of the year. The remaining days the weaker but more constant Marin wind blows from the Mediterranean Sea and creates some pretty nice conditions for your directional board. Since Leucate and La Franqui are small seaside resorts you’re never far from a great bar, beach club, or top restaurant, either.
There are many great and diverse kite spots around Leucate. You can either ride on one of the many “Étangs” (salt water lakes) in the area or hit the beach at “La Franqui”, where the annual “Mondial du Vent” hosting the first stop of the GKA Freestyle World Cup takes place.
